Dr. Beckman recently passed away
at the age of 104.
The inventor of things such as the
pH meter, the DU spectrophotometer, and various
oxygen analyzers, he was a well known philanthropist.
Here are the rules he lived by, enjoying a long
and happy life.
Absolute integrity in everything.
There is no satisfactory substitute for excellence.
Moderation in everything, including moderation.
Hire the best people, then get out of their way.
Don’t be afraid of making mistakes; if you’re
not making mistakes, you’re probably not doing
very much.
Acquire new knowledge and always ask “why?”
Don’t take yourself too seriously.
